Die Iren sind ja bekannt für ihre Mythen und Geschichten. Das hat seinen Ursprung in der keltischen Kultur, die nach wie vor tief verwurzelt ist in den irischen Traditionen. Das hat man alles mal gehört und vielleicht sogar mal in der Schule gelernt. Aber welche Geschichten den Kindern in Irland wirklich erzählt werden, dass wusste ich bis jetzt auch nicht.
Die erste Geschichte, die mir nun erzählt wurde, ist die vom Leprechaun (sprich so ähnlich wie Läprkohn) und sie soll eine der bekanntesten, beliebtesten und am weitest verbreitetsten sein. Genau genommen soll jedes Kind den Leprechaun kennen und in jedem Touristenshop gibt es anscheinend Puppen, Schlüsselanhänger, etc. Und als ich letzten Freitag am Flughafen mal darauf geachtet habe, war der Leprechaun tatsächlich allgegenwärtig. Bisher war mir das nie aufgefallen.
Die Geschichte vom Leprechaun ist – wie ich finde - für Eltern eigentlich sehr praktisch. Die Kurzfassung geht so: Den Leprechaun findet man am Ende des Regenbogens und er wartet dort mit einem Sack voll Gold.
Ich bin mir sicher, dass es auch längere Varianten davon gibt, die ich hoffentlich alle noch erzählt bekomme. Bisher kenne ich auch nur die kurze Version.
Praktisch finde ich die Geschichte, weil es in Irland ja doch sehr oft regnet, das Wetter noch viel öfter wechselt, was zur Folge hat, dass Regenbögen sicherlich keine Seltenheit sind. Wenn man nun als Eltern(teil) mal die Schnauze voll hat von dem ständigen Gegröle und seine Kinder mal für einen halben Tag los werden will, wartet man eben mal ne halbe Stunde, tischt seinen Kindern kurz die Geschichte vom Leprechaun auf und lässt sie dann raus, um den Leprechaun mitsamt seinem Goldsack am Ende eben aufgetauchten Regenbogens zu suchen. Die Erfolgsaussichten sind bestimmt erstklassig. Denn als Eltern(teil) man ja zum Einen davon aus, dass Kinder nicht wissen, dass sie nie zum Ende des Regenbogens kommen werden und zum Anderen, dass sie noch nicht verstanden haben, dass man das Glück auch mit einem Sack voll Gold nicht kaufen kann und die Kinder deshalb voller Abenteuerlust losrennen.
